To Laugh and Mourn: Best Documentary Music | Ronnie Arias
When I was a kid (many many years ago and in a galaxy far, far away ...), a documentary was synonymous with something vaguely 2011 vma awards educational but above all, extremely boring. Was that we spent in school (in Super 8 format or some other ancient), and recounted with incredible slowness of the reproductive 2011 vma awards process of dung beetle North Africa. A documentary 2011 vma awards was that you NEVER see one chose. Because 2011 vma awards it was boring because 2011 vma awards it was a bummer because it was a tremendous hit in Easter eggs and flowers * s, to be honest ...
The truth is that some years ago I discovered 2011 vma awards that there was a whole series of films that combined two of my passions: cinema and music. And I could not stop to look for them and enjoy them. For documentary film is not a movie: there is usually no posters on the street announcing its release, no advertisements on TV (in fact most bypasses theaters in Argentina) and, therefore, only learning the existence of these movies is already an adventure that usually starts with the word of mouth recommendation. So I like to think I'm a fan and member of musical documentaries I walk through life knocking on doors and recommending Docus while heartily appreciate any information that leads to a story you do not know or have not seen yet.
But yes, I have my preferences. As much as I always like to see those movies that portray a show or a tour of a rock or pop musician, what I look for in these documentaries is something else ... Let there be music, but it also has a story. And rock, especially, has many amazing stories.
"It Might Get Loud" ("It can be noisy") is a 2009 film dedicated especially to fans of the guitar, the flagship instrument of rock and roll. The exclusive protagonists of the film are three guitarists, each representative of different times: Jimmy Page, legendary guitar 2011 vma awards player for Led Zeppelin, The Edge, a member of U2 and Jack White of the White Stripes. Throughout the documentary, we can see the roots, 2011 vma awards influences and why the sound of these three great musicians, including a wonderful start in which Jack shows how little is required to play the viola.
In my chronology of discovery of music documentaries that followed was "Anvil! The Story of Anvil ", 2008, about a Canadian metal band back in 1984 shared the stage at a festival in Japan with Whitesnake, Scorpions and Bon Jovi, all groups had exitosísimas races worldwide. All ... less Anvil. The film is sad, tender, hilarious 2011 vma awards and inspiring. All along while. Track guitarist and singer Steve Lips Kudlow in their attempts to survive and not give up the rock and roll while handing out food in schools for a living, is like watching one of Sandrini: It makes you laugh and makes you mourn.
It is also important to say that these movies have come festivals and won awards, which leads to a very new and very successful, to the point of being the winner of the 2012 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. It's "Searching for Sugarman" 2011 vma awards ("Finding Sugarman"), a fantastic tale about a musician of the 70s who, having failed in the United States, becomes successful and legend in South Africa through their records. But nothing is known about him, even if he is alive ... And in the search for the truth about Sixto Rodriguez, the iconic musician that nobody seems to know outside South African territory, is the best of this movie.
Ok, I'm already excited and can not stop ... but this column is endless. Anyway, I want you to take note of "Not dead yet", the sad and inspiring story of Jason Becker, rock guitarist who had it all, until fate left him almost nothing. 2011 vma awards And also "Last days here," Bobby Liebling, Pentagram band leader, who after being rock star ends up sleeping in the basement of their parents. O "Mission to Lars" tear story of the misadventures of an English 2011 vma awards kid with autism and effort of his brothers so he can fulfill his dream of meeting the drummer 2011 vma awards of Metallica. Ah! Also write down "Cure for pain," the story of the painful life and unexpected death of Mark Sandman, Morphine bassist. And I swear I left a lot out ...
Bb! The Joe Strummer (lead singer of The Clash) "Joe Strummer, the future is unwritten", released on January 20, 2007 at the Sundance Film Festival. What is happening this month by I-Sat. Highly recommended. Also recently saw "London calling" A BBC documentary from 2012 on Don
